Shaheen Afridi said ‘yaar, bas kya karein’ to fans goes viral after he was ruled out of Asia Cup 2022
Shaheen Afridi said ‘yaar, bas kya karein’ : Star Pakistan National Cricket Team pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi got ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022. This is a major blow to the Men In Green, the Pakistan team. The Pakistani cricket fans are upset to see that he is not going to play for his country in the marquee tournament.
The Asia Cup 2022 will be played from August 27 to September 11, 2022. The entire tournament is going to take place in United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Pakistan National Cricket Team will be locking horns with arch-rivals India National Cricket Team in their tournament opener on August 28 at the Dubai International Stadium.
On Saturday, August 20, 2022, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a statement that due to the star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi’s right knee ligament injury, he will be absent from Asia Cup and the home series against England. He sustained this injury while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
“Shaheen Shah Afridi has been advised 4-6 weeks rest by the PCB Medical Advisory Committee and independent specialists following the latest scans and reports.”
“This means Shaheen has been ruled out of the ACC T20 Asia Cup and home series against England but is expected to return to competitive cricket in October with the New Zealand T20I tri-series, which will be followed by the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022,” Pakistan Cricket Board said in an official media release.
A video went viral on social media after the confirmation of Shaheen getting ruled out of the marquee tournament. The pacer is seen interacting with the fans. In the video, Shaheen Shah Afridi on his ruling out said “Kya bas, kya karein ab. Dua hai,”. In response, a fan from the crowd in the Netherlands said, “bada dukh hua.”
Despite not being named in the squad for the Netherlands tour, the pacer went to the Netherlands to be in close contact with the national team’s physio.
“I have spoken with Shaheen and he is understandably upset with the news,” chief medical officer Najeebullah Soomro said in a statement that was issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
“Although he has made progress during his rehabilitation in Rotterdam, it is now clear he will require more time and is likely to return to competitive cricket in October.”
Meanwhile, the Pakistan National Cricket Team vice-captain Shadab Khan went on to say that they will definitely miss the services of Shaheen Afridi in the marquee tournament.
“Shaheen is our best bowler, so, of course, we will miss him. Unfortunately, he would not be available for the Asia Cup. But we are hopeful he will be available for future series and the World Cup. We will have to play ruthless cricket. Our team culture is such that we never relax against any team,” Shadab said.
Pakistan will begin its Asia Cup campaign in Dubai on the 28th of August 2022. The match will be against arch-rivals India. This game will be followed by a seven-match Twenty20 home series against England.
Shaheen played a key role in the victory of Pakistan against India in their face-off in the T20 World Cup in the year 2021. He took the important wickets of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli.
