Shaheen Afridi left for London for rehabilitation: The Asia Cup has already started and Pakistan lost their first match against India in a thrilling encounter. Right before the Asia Cup the star left-arm pacer, Shaheen Afridi was ruled out from Asia Cup due to a knee injury. It was a big blow for Pakistan considering he was one of the main bowling options for them. Especially for big tournaments, you cannot miss out on your key player.
On August 29 Monday Pakistan cricket board confirmed that the left arm Shaheen Afridi will be heading to London to complete the rehabilitation. He suffered from a knee injury during a test match. Afridi left for London from Dubai after spending some of his time with the Pakistan team and watching the opener against India on Sunday.
Pakistan says that they are confident about having Shahid Afridi fit before the T20 World Cup starts in Australia. However, the medical team will take a call on his availability for the main event based on his recovery status. He was ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a knee injury during a test match against Sri Lanka. He did not play well in the ODI series against the Netherlands as per the media reports.
Pakistan Cricket Board made official statement
A statement by the Pakistan cricket board said ” Whilst in London he will be in supervision of PCB medical advisory panel. The panel is also composed of London-based Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed and Dr. Zafar Iqbal. Since 2016 Dr. Imtiaz has been head of Medical Services at Queens Park Rangers football club. While he was a head of sports medicine at Crystal Palace football club in 2015. He also worked for Tottenham Hotspur FC, Kent County Cricket Club, and Liverpool FC. Shaheen is expected to return for the ICC T20 World Cup. But his return will depend on a decision by a medical advisory panel. Shaheen was at ICC Academy watching a trans training session. He also met and greeted Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul in Dubai.
On Sunday during the Asia Cup opener, India vs Pakistan, he was seen cheering for Naseem Shah who made his debut.
