Friday will see Senegal take on Mozambique at the Diamniadio Olympic Stadium in Dhaka for the first of their two qualifying games for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Lions of Teranga won their first AFCON title by beating Egypt in the finals on penalties last year, and they will be aiming to win it back in Ivory Coast in 2019.
The team led by Aliou Cisse leads Group L with all six points secured, and they are well on their way to qualifying, having won both of their group matches thus far.
Senegal began their qualifying campaign by defeating Benin 3-1 and Rwanda 1-0, with Sadio Mane of Bayern Munich scoring all four goals. Their position at the top will be strengthened by another victory this week.
This is also their first game since their World Cup campaign in 2022 when they reached the round of 16 and were defeated by England 3-0.
Idrissa Gueye will make a record 100th appearance for the team, making him the most-capped player in the nation’s history, and Cisse has selected a strong group that includes Mane.
Mozambique is currently in second place in the table, just two points behind them, and is on track to make the continental tournament for the first time since 2010.
The Mambas were held to a 1-1 draw with Rwanda in their most memorable match prior to seeing off Benin 1-0 in their close to building four focuses in two games.
