Salaries of USA Women’s Soccer Team (USWNT) players in 2023 – How much do they make per game: Here’s How Much USA Women’s Soccer Team Players Make and What Are USWNT Players’ Salaries in 2023
The Women’s World Cup will be in the limelight from July end to August 20.
By early June, just a month and a half before the event was due to start, the event saw over one million tickets sold in Australia and New Zealand. It has already gone beyond the standard set by the 2019 edition.
Early ticket sales suggest the 2023 Women’s World Cup could also be poised to break the previous record for viewership, which already exceeded a billion in 2019. But one of the most followed events in the world is the debate over how to adequately compensate players on the pitch. Players around the world have fought for equal compensation and in 2019 USWNT players filed a lawsuit against the US Soccer Federation (USSF). It accused the organization of discrimination for not paying men’s and women’s teams equally.
A more equal pay structure has been secured for the women’s team thanks to new collective bargaining agreements and a $24 million settlement of the lawsuit in February 2022. However, this year the prize pool of the Women’s World Cup is exactly 25% larger than last year’s Men’s World Cup, so the difference in total prize money between the two tournaments has not changed.
How much would these famous athletes be paid to compete on the world’s biggest stage? You should know about the following:
How much do players make on USWNT
Under the 2022 collective bargaining agreement from the USSF, USWNT players will receive significantly more money than in previous years. Under the new agreements, after deducting 20% of the money paid to each team, the USSF will split the remaining money between the 49 players on the men’s (26) and women’s (23) teams.
The US men’s team reached the Round of 16 last year but lost to the Netherlands. This means that USMNT received $13 million. However, there is one recent difference to the women’s system: before paying each national nation, FIFA unveiled a new distribution scheme that would guarantee a fixed allocation to players.
If the American women finish first, the US Soccer Federation will collect $4.29 million, while each of them will receive $270,000. $4.29 million plus $270,000 per player for a total of $10.5 million. The USSF will then combine the $10.5 million won by the women with the $13 million won by the men for a total prize pool of $23.5 million. The remaining $18.8 million would be split among the 49 players, with the USSF taking $4.7 million (20%). This gives each player approximately $383,673.47 in total winnings.
What is the World Cup 2023 prize money?

Teams will receive a further $31 million for preparations, while clubs will receive $11 million for participating players.

NWSL salaries
The National Women’s Soccer League has recently made a lot of adjustments to the way it compensates its players, just like soccer on the global stage. The new CBA, negotiated in 2022, resulted in a 60 percent increase in the minimum wage for players from 2021 to 2022. The CBA also allowed free agency, allowing players to sign larger deals in the future.
According to Pro Soccer Wire, the NWSL has a salary cap of $1.375 million per team, with the league’s minimum wage for players at $36,400. Many players in the league make more money than this, but the largest cap fee for each player is $200,000.
18 said the median salary by May 2022 was $54,000. According to ESPN, Trinity Rodman became the highest-paid player in NWSL history after signing a four-year, $1.1 million contract through 2022. According to AS.com, Alex Morgan has agreed to a new contract with the San Diego Wave that will pay him $450,000 a year.
