During a virtual meeting of the senior selection committee on December 25, the Asian team selection trials were concluded.
Based on their higher world rankings, the committee decided to grant direct entry to men’s doubles players Satwiksairaj Ranikreddy and Chirag Shetty and singles players Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, and PV Sindhu.
The remaining members of the 14-member group will be selected at the assurance primer events, which are scheduled to take place in Delhi on January 2 and 3.
“The members unanimously agreed that since it is a large competition with limited entries, only BWF rankings from 16-50 should be considered for inviting players for the trials for the remaining spots,” the BAI stated in a letter.
Notwithstanding Saina, Malvika Bansod and Aakarshi Kashyap were welcome to the starter adjusts for the women’s singles. For the men’s duplicates, Arjun and Dhruv Kapila, Krishna Prasad Garga and Vishnuvardhan Goud P, and Ishaan Bhatnagar and Sai Patheek K were picked.
Sikki Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa, Ashwini Bhatt and Shikha Gautam, Haritha Manazhiyil and Ashna Roy, and Locale Games bronze medalists Treesa Cheerful and Gayatri P Gopichand were welcome to vie for the two spots in the women’s copies.
Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto, Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy, and Venkat Gaurav Prasad and Juhi Dewangan were all invited to the starters, which will select one mixed copies bunch for the event.
In April, Saina, a former world number one, skipped the selection preliminary rounds for the 2022 Republic Games in order to handle her responsibilities following her return from three weeks of European competition.

In a letter to all subsidiary state affiliations, the governing body stated, “If there is no affirmation from a player/match to participate in the determination preliminaries, the following best positioned player/match in the BWF Top-16 to 50 on December 25, 2022 to be remembered for the preliminaries.”
“The last day to receive confirmation is December 30.”
