Yashasvi Jaiswal’s future was recently forecast to be bright by seasoned wicketkeeper-batter said Dinesh Karthik. Who claimed that the Southpaw might play for India for at least ten years.
Jaiswal, however, might not be selected for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 later this year. According to Karthik, who said that Jaiswal will have to wait for his turn. He predicted that the young player would certainly receive a lengthy run following the 50-over championship match.
Dinesh Karthik explained to Cricbuzz what this means:
“There is a man who appears to have at least 10 years of playing experience. He plays with his left hand and is a skilled passer and defender, but most importantly, if you ask him to play a few shots, my God, he can go after you. He might find it challenging to make this World Cup team, but beyond the World Cup, I don’t see anyone stopping him.”
It is important to note that Yashasvi Jaiswal had a standout Test series against the West Indies with the bat. With 266 runs scored over three innings, the left-handed batsman finished as the game’s leading scorer after expertly navigating the opposition bowlers.
Given that the ICC ODI World Cup and the Asian Games will overlap in 2023. Jaiswal’s selection for the latter event suggests that his inclusion in the former may not have been a priority for national selectors.
Shubman Gill “needs a little bit of patience from our side,” said Dinesh Karthik
Batting at his new No. 3 position, Shubman Gill was unable to have a meaningful effect in the recently finished two-match Test series.
Dinesh Karthik has come out in favor of the batter and pleaded with supporters not to give up on the young player just yet.
Karthik emphasized how recently in white-ball cricket, the gifted young gun has dominated. If given a few more opportunities, he predicted that Gill would carry over the hot form into Test matches as well.
We all have high expectations for Shubman Gill, but similar to T20 cricket, Dinesh Karthik believes he is starting slowly. “If you look at his recent Test cricket scores, there isn’t much to be excited about. He has truly left his mark in both ODI and T20 cricket. He has the talent and skill to succeed in Test cricket, in my opinion. He requires a little bit of our patience.
The next game in Shubman Gill’s career will take place in India’s upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies. On Thursday, July 27, the opening game will take place at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
