For the first ODI against the West Indies, Aakash Chopra’s has selected the Indian team he feels is best. Umran Malik should be a member of the Men in Blue, in his opinion.
On Thursday, July 27, the opening match of the three-match ODI series will take place in Bridgetown, Barbados. Umran is one of the 17-member Indian team’s five frontline seamers.
Chopra explained why he chose Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill as his two openers in a video posted to his YouTube account.
“In my opinion, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will start for India. You’ll think of Ishan Kishan, but you won’t play him, at least not at the top of the order. Rohit Sharma anticipates playing a similar innings to the one he did in Trinidad’s second innings. Red-ball cricket will be a little bit forgotten by Shubman Gill.
In the middle order, the former Indian opener preferred Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson over Ishan Kishan, saying:
Virat Kohli will follow at No. 3 after that. Ishan Kishan hasn’t received a position from me, and the squad might not start him as one, two, or three either. But a key question is whether they can accept him at age four or five. Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav will remain at positions 4 and 5, respectively.
Chopra added that if Kishan is included in the World Cup plan, he would be strongly inclined to bat him in the middle order. He believes that in such a situation, either Suryakumar Yadav or Sanju Samson would have to move aside.
If Hardik Pandya is giving me overs, I might not need Shardul Thakur, said Aakash Chopra‘s
Aakash Chopra wants India to include Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja in the starting XI, stating:
At No. 6, “Hardik Pandya, will compete. Then comes Ravindra Jadeja at position seven. There are two players you may choose from if you need another hitter at No. 8: Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur. If Hardik Pandya is giving me overs, I might not need Shardul Thakur, hence Axar Patel might win my vote.
The well-known analyst chose Umran Malik, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav as his three expert bowlers, declaring:
- Kuldeep Yadav will then take over at position nine. Therefore, unless the surface has a lot of grass and sideways movement is possible, I will want to use three spinners. Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik will then follow. Without a doubt, I’ll portray Umran Malik.
Chopra outlined the following reasons Umran ought to be in India’s starting XI:
“I could give him the fresh ball, or I could not. Hardik Pandya might bowl four overs for me before Umran Malik takes the field. Umran Malik isn’t even on the Asian Games roster, therefore I want to try him. As a result, I support the Indian team’s efforts to get him into the World Cup as an X-factor bowler.
Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and Umran Malik make up Aakash Chopra’s ideal Indian XI.
