After winning a third Iranian Super League title with Sanam Tehran in 2012, 2014. It was the most productive year for Saeid Marouf’s professional career which included gold medals. The player was also named the Iran Sporting Man of the Year by the Iranian Students News Agency. And was named the Best Setter at the 2013 World League, in which Iran came in a respectable 4th place, beating Brazil in the competition. Iran also took home the gold medal at the Asian Games that year.
In the 2014-2015 period, Marouf left Shahrdari Urmia in the middle of his second season with the club to sign with Zenit Kazan in Russia, with a contract worth more than $1 million per year. Saeid Marouf is was born in Urmia in 1985, the sport of volleyball was in his blood at an early age as did two of his uncles who were Jahangir Seyyed Abbasi and Vahid Seyyed Abdulbasi – being professional volleyball players. Beginning his career in Shahrdari Urmia (now Pegah Urmia) in 2003-2004 season Saeid Malouf established himself as a talented setter but, it wasn’t until the year 2005 that he was awarded his very first Gold Medal in at the Iranian Super League – with his second club, Sanam Tehran when he was only 18 years old. In the same year Marouf was the first player to be called up for his first squad for the Iranian nation’s team but the year 2007 was when Marouf was recognized as an integral part of the team.
The year 2008 was a great one for Iran. Despite placing 6th in their group of qualification for the Olympics and not making it to the finals, Saeid Maroud was named Best Setter in the team of Iran. The same feat would be repeated during the 2010 Asian Cup, which Iran took home, winning the title from 2008. He also took home an award of silver in the 2009 Asian Championship.
