According to L’Equipe, Senegal and Bayern Munich sensation Sadio Mane will not participate in his country’s World Cup campaign after hobbling off against Werder Bremen on Tuesday.
Sadio Mane is going to miss the World Cup due to a leg injury
The attacker is reportedly suffering from a tendon and will likely miss many weeks of action as a result. He is thus anticipated to be removed off the World Cup roster when Aliou Cisse, the coach of Senegal, announces it on Friday.
The 30-year-old was the Teranga Lions’ Africa Cup of Nations champion in January and placed second on the most current Ballon d’Or list. Senegal, the Netherlands, Ecuador, and the World Cup hosts Qatar are all in Group A.
The head coach of Bayern Munich, Julian Nagelsmann, had commented on the injury, saying, “I can’t tell anything for sure, he suffered a hit to the head of his shin. That is an uncomfortable area, and it radiates somewhat into the muscles. Because it splinters readily, I believe he has to see the X-ray to determine whether there is anything there. But I’m hoping everything is well. I can’t yet state anything with certainty.
Mane transferred from Liverpool to the Bundesliga champions earlier this summer. He has contributed to three goals and six assists in the league so far this year.
