More about RSWS
The tournament will start in Kanpur. The two semifinals and the final, which will be held on October 1, will be in Raipur. A press release says that Indore and Dehradun are two other locations. This year, the New Zealand Legends are joining the other teams from India, Australia, Sri Lanka, the West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh, and England. The main goal of the event is to raise awareness about road safety in the country and around the world.
The RSWS is supported by the Government of India’s Ministries of Road Transport and Highways, Information and Technology, and Youth Affairs and Sports. Tendulkar quit the game on November 16, 2013, which was more than eight years ago.
Tendulkar’s record and comeback to RSWS
The legendary Indian batsman scored 15,921 runs in 200 Test matches and 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs, for a total of 100 international centuries.
Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said, “I am sure the Road Safety World Series will drive social change and work as an ideal platform to influence people’s mind-set towards their behaviour on the road and road safety.”
The goal of the RSWS is to change the way people in the country think about road safety. Cricket is the most popular sport in the country, and many people look up to cricketers as heroes. Because of this, the League will be a great way to change people’s ideas about how they should act on the roads.Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari said, “The Road Safety World Series is a very good initiative to create awareness towards road safety through cricket. We want every individual in this country to be aware and obey every rules and regulations while on the road and for that to happen, we have to create awareness among the people, I strongly believe that this series will be able to do and achieve the goal of saving lives on Indian roads.”
