Sunrisers Eastern Cape defeated MI Cape Town by four runs in the eighth game of SA20 2024, played at Newlands in Cape Town.
Eastern Cape batted first and achieved a dominant total of 202/2 in 20 overs, owing to Jordan Hermann’s unbeaten 106-run knock in 62 balls, which included eight fours and four sixes.
He was strongly helped by Dawid Malan, who scored 53 points off 37. Kieron Pollard was MICT’s lone wicket-taker, with two.
In the chase, MI Cape Town openers Rassie van der Dussen (41) and Ryan Rickleton (58) put on a 108-run partnership.
After their dismissals, Sam Curran gave his all, scoring 37* off 22 with two fours and three sixes.
However, with no help provided, MICT scored 198/5 in 20 overs, losing by four runs.
Ottniel Baartman took three wickets, allowing 35 runs in four overs, while Daniel Worrall and Liam Dawson each had one.

MICT’s Ryan Rickleton leads the run-scoring rankings with 243 runs in three innings, an average of 81.

Heinrich Klaasen, the Durban batsman, dropped one position to third place, scoring 162 runs. David Miller (116) and Rilee Rossouw (111) remained in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
East Cape opener J Hermann soared from 49th to sixth place with 109 runs following his century against MICT.
Mitchell Van Buuren (100), Matthew Breetzke (95), Nicholas Pooran (86), and JJ Smuts (81) lost one spot apiece to finish seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth.

Lungi Ngidi of Paarl Royals took five wickets for 12.4 runs to lead the wickets rankings. JSK pacer Lizaad Williams finished second with five wickets at 12.4.
DSG bowlers Richard Gleeson (5), Dwaine Pretorius (4), Keshav Maharaj (4), and Reece Topley (4) remain in third, fourth, fifth, and sixth place at 20.2, 15.5, 19.5, and 25.5, respectively.
JJ Smuts (3) moved one position up to seventh place at 18. Kagiso Rabada (3) dropped one spot to 19.33, keeping him in eighth place.
Daryn Dupavillon (3) and Andile Phehlukwayo (3) moved up one spot each to finish ninth and tenth, at 22.33 and 23.33, respectively.
