With a total prize pool of 70 million rands (approximately 33.5 crore rupees), the first SA20 season would have the largest prize pool in South African franchise cricket. The SA20 premier league is scheduled to begin on January 10 and conclude on February 11 in 2023.
According to Cricket South Africa, the league will feature six teams, all of which are sponsored by franchise owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In an effort to “break barriers” in the various parts of the league, the league’s management has declared a record amount of prize money for the winning team.
In the opening match between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals, notable players like David Miller, England’s T20 World Cup-winning captain Jos Buttler, and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan will compete.
SA T20 league 2023 Format & Schedule :
Between the 10th and 11th of January, 33 games are scheduled. Additionally, prior to the knockout rounds, each team will play twice in a double round-robin format.
There will be two semi-finals and one final, not the usual playoff format like in the IPL. The league’s objectives are to raise the level of cricket played by the national team and provide young players with experience playing alongside well-known players.
