Ryan Mallett’s expecting girlfriend pays devastating tribute following his drowning death: Ryan Mallett, a former NFL player who drowned last week while swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, has apologized to his pregnant girlfriend for not being able to save her.
When Madison Carter was killed in an accident on June 27 in Destin on the Florida Panhandle coast, she was apparently on vacation with the former New Zealand Patriots quarterback.
In a post to Facebook, Ms. Carter stated: “I prayed for you for 27 years, and we finally found each other.”
“While I do think God has a purpose for everything, I don’t think I’ll ever fully comprehend why everything occurred. I’m sorry I was unable to save you, but please know that I tried my hardest.
At around 2.15 pm on Tuesday, The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said that Mallett encountered difficulties when attempting to swim to a sandbar about 150 feet (46 meters) from the beach close to Gulf Shores Drive.
Lifeguards rushed to his aid and removed the unconscious man from the sea. The body camera footage also showed law enforcement personnel fleeing the area as onlookers watched.
The Arkansas native Mallet was subsequently pronounced dead in the hospital.
Sheriff Eric Aden later refuted the misconception that Mallet had been caught in a rip tide.
He claimed last week that it appears to be a terrible accident and has nothing to do with the surf, rides, or currents.
Mallet worked as a backup quarterback for the Patriots, Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens during the course of five NFL seasons.
Later, he transitioned into teaching, and at the time of his passing, he was the head football coach at White Hall High School in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Ms. Carter, a medical student who is expecting the couple’s first child, commended the 35-year-old’s dedication and passion for his sporting career as well as his selflessness on Facebook.
“I hope you are aware of my affection for you. By myself, your wonderful family, friends, teammates, pupils, and a great many more. I have no idea how I will ever move past this. However, I’m incredibly grateful to love and be loved by you, she said.
Ms. Carter commented that her partner had a “larger-than-life personality and stature”.
He added that the couple was planning their future together and that they had “immense” love for each other.
I will always be grateful for your unconditional love for me. You gave me the love I’ve prayed for all my life in such a short period of time,” she said.
“We were only starting out. Some people must think we’re insane for feeling the way we did in such a short period of time about each other. We initially seemed weird to me as well. But thanks to you, I now grasp that love has no timetable when two souls come together the way ours did.
Ms. Carter remarked that she was unsure of how she would “ever move past this.”
