Ross Blacklock Becoming Veteran Leader To Texans Young Players — Podcast
Ross Blacklock Becoming Veteran Leader: Ross Blacklock, a defensive lineman with the Houston Texans, has gotten off to a rough start in his professional career.
As the Texans began their descent from title contender to football purgatory during his first two years in the NFL, he was subjected to a number of terrible situations that left him feeling like he was in hell.
As Blacklock went through his early difficulties in the NFL, he had the impression that he did not have an experienced player on whom he could draw for support. However, as Blacklock prepares to begin his third season in the league, he has made it a top priority to take on the role of an experienced leader for the Texans’ younger players.

Blacklock shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with Locked On Texans, stating, “I just try to be a big brother to them.” “I share with them everything that I am aware of at this point in my education. I want them to perform well, and I won’t be holding anyone back in order to achieve that goal. I will lend you any and all of the equipment that I possess.”
It would appear that Blacklock has taken an interest in rookie offensive tackle Kenyon Green ever since training camp began on the 30th of July. The two Houstonians spent a significant amount of time together on the practice field prior to Green missing a week of training camp practice due to a concussion.
Blacklock expressed his delight at seeing Green returning at practice on Wednesday morning and reaffirmed his high expectations for the rookie player who is a member of their club.
Blacklock predicted that Kenyon would have a successful time in this environment, stating that the young man had high aspirations for himself. “He has questioned me on more than one occasion regarding particular rushes in which I may have prevailed over him, and whenever he does so, I inform him of the aspects of his game in which he needs to improve. We are all together now, and we function as one big happy family. The young men are receiving assistance from all of us.”
Another illustration of the new chemistry and camaraderie the Texans have going into the 2022 season is Blacklock’s willingness to take it upon himself to be a veteran presence inside of Houston’s locker room.
