Root and Bairstow’s Show in test continues, this time against India leading to a series draw. Last year, 5 match test series were held between England and India. India tour of England where Virat Kohli captained and got the series to 2-1. The 1st test ended with no result as Rain ruined the last day. Later two test matches were won by India. Due to Covid issues and a lack of window for postponing the test match, the series was halted. Indian and many England players had to get back to the IPL. This year, the last match of the series was held.

Throughout the test, India was dominating, but in the last innings, England had 378 that they successfully chased with 7 wickets remaining making it their 4th consecutive chase in test matches. In the last three matches at Edgbaston, England has chased 277, 299, and 296 in a row.
On Tuesday, Jony Bairstow and Joe Root ( Former test captain) completed their century while chasing. The Indian bowling attack looked to lack ideas, despite trying different variations and different bowling, the batsman was at ease. Joe root sealed the victory with a reverse sweep shot against Shardul Thakur. Throughout the innings, both batsmen scored beautiful shots.
This was an unusual summer for English flat pitches where generally chasing is difficult. This win as a test match led to series draw making is an incredible achievement for Ben Stokes and Brandon MacCallum. Making a series draw against a strong Indian lineup is an achievement in itself.
A lot has changed in both Indian and England sides since last year when the series was 2-1, with Virat Kohli was full-time captain of the Indian team and Ravi Shastri as coach. Joe Root was Test captain of England and Chris Silverwood was the coach.
Now, Rohit Sharma is the full-time captain and Rahul Dravid is the head coach of the Indian team. Ben Stokes is Captain and Brandon Maccallum is the head coach of the England test cricket team.
