Ronaldo seeks release from Man United contract, Barcelona announce Kounde deal
Ronaldo seeks release from Man United contract: Clubs in the Premier League and throughout Europe are still striving to do business with only a few weeks of the transfer window remaining, with many decisions to be made over the futures of Cristiano Ronaldo, Frenkie de Jong, and others.
The transfer market is swiftly reaching its end, and teams all around Europe are still working hard to bolster their rosters.
Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, and others have all spent large sums to bring in new players with the purpose of challenging for their particular goals this season. Meanwhile, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain have all looked to the market in recent weeks.
However, the business does not appear to be over, since there is still plenty to be decided. Cristiano Ronaldo is still the subject of much conjecture after requesting a free transfer from Manchester United, while his previous club Juventus may be looking for a replacement for Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman only recently returned to Italy, but his season has already been cut short due to injury.
The Red Devils legend is anxious to leave Old Trafford this summer in order to join a Champions League squad.
United, on the other hand, have no intention of selling the Portuguese superstar and insist he will complete the last year of his £360,000-a-week deal.
According to sources, they even want him to EXTEND his present contract by another year, in which case he would be loaned out this season.
However, Ronaldo is said to have urged the club to cancel his current contract so that he may explore a move to a team playing in Europe’s best club league.
Ronaldo did not participate in United’s preseason tour of Asia and Australia, but he returned to training this week.
The Portugal international was also a spectator on the sidelines for United’s behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly against Wrexham on Wednesday.
It’s unclear if he’ll play in the club’s last pre-season friendly on Saturday and Sunday against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
United have not prepared for life without Ronaldo, who returned to The Theatre of Dreams in an emotional comeback last summer.
One challenge for Ronaldo is finding a new club, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich both turning down the opportunity to join him.
He’s been linked with Atletico Madrid, but fans of Real Madrid’s local rivals have made it obvious that they don’t want him.
United will open their Premier League season against Brighton at Old Trafford in a fortnight.
