Rohit Sharma is upset with Mohammad Nabi for getting extra runs off deflection during the Super Over in India against Afghanistan’s third T20I
Indian captain Rohit Sharma was incensed after Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi. And Rahmanullah Gurbaz snatched two extra byes during the conclusion of the first innings of the first Super Over in Bengaluru.
Nabi missed to make contact with Mukesh Kumar’s penultimate delivery of the over. But he still sprinted for a short bye.
Sanju Samson’s underarm throw caught Nabi on the back of his leg, deflecting the ball towards long on.
The two batsmen were alert enough to swipe two more runs as the ball rolled towards Virat Kohli, infuriating captain Rohit Sharma.
He charged toward Mohammad Nabi, asking why he raced despite the ball rebounding off his legs.
Nabi appeared to emphasize that he was completely within his rights to run despite the deflection.
After considerable discussion, the Indian captain and players walked off in shock. While the on-field umpires signaled byes and awarded three runs off the final ball.
Rohit Sharma made significant contributions in the Super Overs
He stepped out to bat again after the two sides were tied after one Super Over. And hammered a boundary and a six in the second.
After a couple of ducks in the first two games, questions were beginning to be asked about Rohit’s T20I future.
This match-winning performance could not have come at a better moment for the seasoned opener.
