In their first series since Rishabh Pant’s horrific car accident
India will play Sri Lanka in three Twenty20 International matches beginning on Thursday.
First series since the terrible car accident that killed wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will be against Sri Lanka.
Pant is currently receiving treatment after suffering severe injuries in a car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.
The 25-year-old was thought to be an important part of India’s plans for the World Cup in 2023 and the T20I as well.
Indian team hopes Pant will recover quickly, according to all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who will lead the team in the T20I matches against Sri Lanka.
It is very unfortunate what transpired
Additionally, Pandya stated that the absence of Pant could present an opportunity for other wicketkeeper-batsmen to establish themselves in the India team.
An opportunity is available to a lot of people. Because of the kind of player he is, it would have made a big difference if Rishabh had been there.
Pant fell asleep on the Delhi-Dehradun highway while he was driving alone to Uttarakhand for a surprise family visit.
At Mohammedpur Jat, close to Roorkee, his car hit a wall.
The media were later informed by the police that Pant’s car caught fire.
But the Indian cricketer was able to break the windshield and get out.
Prior to being transported to Max, Dehradun, which was approximately 30 minutes away.
Pant was rushed to Roorkee’s Civil Hospital
The second Twenty20 International will be played on Thursday in Pune, and the third match will be played on Saturday in Rajkot.
Pandya will serve as vice-captain in the three-match ODI series following the T20I series, where regular skipper Rohit Sharma returns.
Since the end of the 2021 T20 World Cup, multiple players have led India in various formats.
In addition to Pandya, Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah have led the team in various formats during this time.
Pandya said that the group is hoping to play a specific way and the plans are set paying little heed to who is driving the side.
“The plans are finalized
We are hoping to play with a specific goal in mind, which we will and before IPL, there are just 6 games.
They don’t have much time to do a lot of things, so we’ll make new plans and see which ones work in the future.
We will see that everybody gets enough of a chance. We will determine what needs to be done at the appropriate time.
Role identification is something that has been around for a while and still does.
