Rishabh Pant hopes to be ready by March to play for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024
GMR Sports CEO PKSV Sagar is optimistic that Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant would recover in time for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL).
He claimed that the keeper-batter is recuperating well.
Pant, 26, has not played cricket since December 2022, when he was injured in a tragic vehicle accident.
Unconfirmed sources suggest that the aggressive batter might make a reappearance during the IPL 2024.
Speaking to ANI, Sagar, CEO of GMR Sports, which co-owns the Delhi Capitals club, opened up about Pant’s recuperation process and stated.
Pant had visited the Delhi Capitals’ camp in Kolkata in November of last year, when Sourav Ganguly (director of cricket), Ricky Ponting (head coach), and Pravin Amre (assistant coach) were there.
The keeper-batter then attended the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai.
The left-hander has appeared in 98 IPL matches, accumulating 2,838 runs at an average of 34.61. And a strike rate of 147.97, with one hundred and fifteen fifties.
Pant was recently spotted talking with the Indian squad ahead of their third Twenty20 International against Afghanistan in Bengaluru.
The stumper is now recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Zaheer Khan does not envision Rishabh Pant as part of the T20 World Cup team
A lot of cricket analysts believe Pant should be included in India’s 2024 World Cup team if he makes a successful comeback in the IPL.
However, former India bowler Zaheer Khan believes that the Men in Blue management may not be thinking in that manner.
Pant has played 33 Tests, 30 ODIs, and 66 T20Is, totaling 2,271, 865, and 987 runs.
