As well, before the 2022 NBA draft, there were rumours that the Chicago Bulls were buying former UNC basketball guard Coby White. There is no agreement was reached, and White remains on the team’s roster and is working with his teammates this summer. But will these rumours come to light again? According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, White was on the trade block all season and is expected to do so again this year. Potentially, he could be moved to the deadline depending on what happens to start next season.
It has been on the trading bloc for the past year, but Karnisovas & Co. did not like the offer and simply did not want to make it. But as White’s rookie contract begins to run out, he has no intention of continuing this fall.
Instead, the Bulls are prepared to keep White for deep ends; if the back zone is healthy, then reconsider his trade value on the time frame, and if he’s a bull next summer, just put the market on it and decide if it will be worth pairing a restricted free agent. Cowley also noted how White is working very hard to fix his game, and the team has given up on what to fix.
What should we know, Chicago Bulls’ rumours?
Aside from Rudy Gobert Hoopla, there has often been no buzz than the Chicago Bulls’ possible interest in Coby White’s business. Multiple reports indicate the Bulls may be looking to bag this year’s No. 18 and the 2019 lottery pick on Draft Night last week.
Although according to Dan Woike of the LA Times, league officials believe White could be a potential business target for the Los Angeles Lakers:
“The Lakers may also be looking to acquire players via trade, and rival officials believe Chicago’s Coby White could be a target. Moving Talen Horton-Tucker, a player whose ballhandling skills are viewed by opposing scouts as redundant with the Lakers’ stars, could be a way to improve to meet the Lakers’ needs.”
Other Updates!!
However, speaking of 3-point shooting, the Bulls also lack threats in the centre and made the fewest attempts per game from long range last season. So, while they are open to dealing with White, it is hard to imagine them doing so without knowing they can get a reliable shooter in return.
Now, for what it’s worth, that’s not to say Horton-Tucker isn’t an interesting talent. For a player who is just only 21 years old and has a good feel for the game, he still feels like a good turnaround to the upside.
But do the bulls want a bullish turn in a way to win now? Especially if Reverse Swing owes more this season than Coby White and may even be up for a new contract next season? We are not so sure.
As for the Lakers’ other trade options, it’s extremely hard to see someone who piques the Bulls’ interest. Outside of the big names, that list is filled with a minimal level of talent that may not be worth Chicago’s worth.
