These players include Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Hakim Ziyech. The Magpies, who are currently third in the Premier League, are eager to add players to their roster.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Newcastle manager Eddie Howe wants to bring in a new central midfield player. Optional candidates have been identified as Loftus-Cheek, 26, and Gallagher, 22.
Under Graham Potter, neither of the Blues’ options has become a first-choice player. When Gallagher was on loan at Crystal Palace last season, he made 39 appearances, scored eight goals, and assisted on five.
The English midfielder, on the other hand, has struggled this season due to his inconsistent play. He has been on the field 24 times in competitions, assisting on one goal.
Meanwhile, Newcastle has made bids for 26-year-old Loftus-Cheek in the past two transfer windows, making him a long-term target. Injuries have plagued his career. This season, he has made 20 appearances and provided an assist.
Following Potter’s freshening of his attack with the loan signing of Joao Felix and the £88.5 million signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakthar Donetsk, Ziyech, 29, appears to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.
Since his £33.3 million transfer from Ajax to Chelsea in 2020, the Moroccan has struggled for playing time. This season, Ziyech has made 14 appearances and contributed an assist.
Given that Newcastle is among the top four contenders, it remains to be seen whether the Blues would be willing to sell. After 19 games, Potter’s team is in tenth place, ten points behind the Magpies, who are in third place.
After the American forward sustained a long-term knee injury, Chelsea manager Potter appears to rule out Pulisic joining Newcastle. (via ESPN) The English coach mentioned a possible departure for the former Borussia Dortmund attacker:
There is no possibility of Pulisic leaving. Despite the fact that he is currently out for a few months, that was never even considered.
In 21 appearances, Pulisic has scored one goal and provided two assists. In 2019, he paid £57.6 million to transfer from BvB to Stamford Bridge. However, like the aforementioned trio, the captain of the USMNT has not been able to establish himself as a regular starter.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle is reportedly interested in signing him, and alongside Leicester City’s James Maddison, he is a top January target. His contract is good for another two years.
