Rennae Stubbs, Serena Williams’ former coach, has expressed her opposition to Pope Francis’ demand for a global ban on surrogacy.
Pope Francis leads the Catholic Church, which has over 1.3 billion Catholics worldwide.
The Church has constantly expressed its opposition to surrogacy and in-vitro fertilization, believing that these procedures diminish the human aspect of conception and result in embryo disposal.
Nonetheless, the Vatican’s theology office has emphasized that children born through surrogacy to same-sex parents can be baptized.
The Pope pushed for the prohibition of surrogate parenthood at an address in Vatican City on Monday, January 9.
He stated that surrogacy is not only “deplorable,” but also a major violation of the dignity of both the woman and the kid involved.
“I find deplorable the practice of so-called surrogate motherhood, which is based on the exploitation of situations of the mother’s material needs,” the Pope remarked.
“A kid is always a gift, never the foundation of a commercial deal.”
Stubbs rushed to social media to voice her outrage in response to the news.
She said she had “no words” after discovering Pope Francis’ position on surrogacy.
Rennae Stubbs mentioned the shortage of female instructors on the tennis circuit: In many respects, it was quite disappointing, startling, and surprising
Rennae Stubbs previously discussed the shortage of female instructors on the tennis tour.
Stubbs began working with Serena Williams just before the start of the 2022 US Open.
She formerly worked with players including Karolina Pliskova, Samantha Stosur, and Eugenie Bouchard.
Rennae Stubbs discussed her coaching path once her association with Williams ends in 2022 in an interview with the Courier Mail.
She noted a startling dearth of phone calls or inquiries from agencies about prospective partnerships with their stars.
I’ve had some fantastic opportunities to work with some very outstanding players.
But, once the US Open 2022 was over and everyone knew Serena was retiring, Rennae Stubbs remarked, “There hasn’t been a single phone call or approach from an agent asking if I could collaborate with one of their players.”
Stubbs expressed disappointment, astonishment, and surprise at not being approached for coaching.
She emphasized that it was a wasted opportunity for some players who would have benefited significantly from a female viewpoint on their game.
So it’s really sad, startling, and surprising in a variety of ways.
‘If you don’t get a terrific job after this, I will be amazed,’ added fellow coach Darren Cahill. I told her, ‘Welcome to being a girl in the coaching atmosphere.’
There is a wasted opportunity for certain athletes who would benefit greatly from a female perspective, she noted.
