Ratings for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team as Smriti Mandhana and co. succumb to a crushing defeat due to poor bowling The Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team by 60 runs in Match 2 of the 2023 Women’s Premier League (WPL) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 5.
Meg Lanning and opener Shafali Verma scored 84 and 72, respectively, for the Capitals. They had support from Marizanne Kapp and Jemimah Rodrigues, who played great appearances to take DC to 223/2. Tara Norris won the Player of the Match award for her five wickets, and RCB never came close to winning the chase.
The player ratings for RCB’s WPL 2023 matchup against DC are listed below.
WPL 2023: DC vs RCB: Smriti Mandhana and Co. suffer their first defeat as a result of a strange team selection.
Smriti Mandhana: 6/10
Smriti scored the most points for RCB with a quick 35, but the shot she took to get out of the game was not very good. Her captaincy, which was completely uninteresting as DC won the game, was also brought into focus. With her bowling changes and field placements, the skipper cannot afford to be this subpart.
Sophie Devine: 4/10
Devine’s only over went for 20 runs, indicating a poor performance with the ball. She gave it everything she had on the field, but she only scored 14 runs before Shafali made a stunning catch that put her back in the dugout.
Ellyse Perry: 7/10
Perry scored 29 runs in her three overs, making her one of three RCB bowlers with an economy rate under 10. She made an excellent cameo with the bat, scoring 31 runs out of 19, but her shot was a bit hasty and was caught by Norris. In all three areas, the Australian is certain to be one of the best players in WPL 2023.
Disha Kasat: 3/10
Disha only scored nine runs in her innings, which did not live up to her potential. RCB, on the other hand, ought to back up the top-order batter.
Heather Knight: 8/10
Knight was without a doubt RCB’s best player in their first WPL 2023 game. Even though she was a little pricey, her part-time off-spin helped her win both DC wickets. The English batter scored 34 runs, which helped the team’s net run rate somewhat.
Richa Ghosh: 4/10
Ghosh made a good catch to strike out Shafali, but he was unable to make an impact with the bat. After making only two runs, the youngster flied out at long-on.
Asha Shobana: 2/10
The highly regarded Shobana had a difficult time adjusting to the WPL. She scored only two runs in her two overs before being bowled out by Shikha Pandey, and her two overs totaled 29 runs as Lanning and Shafali tore into her.
Megan Schutt: 4.5/10
Schutt was one of only two RCB bowlers to bowl four overs, and she let 45 runs slip through her fingers. However, with the bat, she somewhat made up for it, scoring 30 runs when the game was already lost.
Preeti Bose: 5/10
In her four overs, which resulted in 35 runs, Bose did not pose much of a threat to take wickets. She did, however, finish as the second-cheapest bowler for RCB.
Kanika Ahuja: 1/10
Kanika was another RCB player who struggled on Sunday to make an impact. She bagged a first-ball duck despite not bowling.
Renuka Singh Thakur: 6/10
Renuka was the most economical bowler in the first innings, bowling at an economy rate of eight. She got the new ball to move around a little, but she didn’t get any wickets.
