Former South African captain and batting legend AB de Villiers turns 40 on Saturday, February 17.
He appeared in 114 Tests, 228 One-Day Internationals, and 78 Twenty20 Internationals throughout his stellar career.
De Villiers scored 8,765 runs in Test matches, averaging 50.66 and totaling 22 tons. In ODIs, he scored 9,577 runs with an average of 53.50 and a strike rate of 101.09, including 25 hundreds.
Looking at his T20I record, the Proteas hitter scored 1,672 runs at an average of 26.12 and a strike rate of 135.16, with ten half-centuries.
In his T20 career, he played 340 matches and scored 9,424 runs at a strike rate of 150.13, with four hundreds and 69 half-centuries.
De Villiers’ most successful T20 franchise stint was with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League.
He played for the team from 2011 to 2021, amassing 4,522 runs in 157 matches at an average of 41.1 and a strike rate of 158.33, including two tons and 37 half-centuries.
The right-handed hitter made his RCB debut against Kochi Tuskers Kerala in Kochi during the 2011 season.
De Villiers was named Player of the Match after scoring 54* from 40 balls to help Bangalore win by six wickets.

Agarwal recently made headlines when he was hospitalized after mistaking a substance for water and consuming it on a plane.

Cheteshwar Pujara, a major fixture in India’s Test squad for over a decade, has recently been in and out of the team. The 36-year-old last played for India in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval in June 20223. He has been in good form for Saurashtra throughout the current Ranji Trophy season.
Despite having stepped down as captain, Virat Kohli continues to play for the RCB.
He is one of international cricket’s most consistent performances, and he was named Player of the Tournament after scoring a record 765 runs in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
He has missing the current Test series against England for personal reasons.

Zaheer Khan retired in October 2015, capping off a tremendous international career.
