Ravindra Jadeja removed Ben Stokes on the stroke of lunch in the fourth Test
England captain Ben Stokes was caught all ends up by a ball from Ravindra Jadeja that stayed low, resulting in his LBW dismissal in the first session of the fourth Test against India in Ranchi on Friday, February 23.
The all-rounder only scored three runs before being dismissed due to an unfortunate delivery.
Stokes came to the crease after Jonny Bairstow was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin.
With his counter-attacking showing, Bairstow had formed a great combination with Joe Root, and the England camp was hoping the two would remain unblemished until the conclusion of the session.
Jadeja’s fullish delivery did not rise off the surface and instead hit Stokes’ shoe, resulting in an unfortunate out.
The England captain strolled away with a sour look before waiting for the umpire’s judgment.
This is the second time in the series Jadeja has beaten Stokes. The left-arm spinner also dismissed the opposition captain in the first innings of the third Test at Rajkot, when Bumrah took a calm catch in the deep.

Team India is fully in possession of proceedings following Stokes’ dismissal to close the first session of Day 1
England began on a positive note after winning the toss, with Zak Crawley hitting 42 runs in rapid succession.
However, the top order was destroyed by rookie Akash Deep’s superb performance with the new ball, and the spinners entered the fray as the session went.
After 26 overs of play, England is in a difficult position at 118-5 as the second session begins.
Joe Root, appears to have returned to his normal style after a few Bazball-induced freak dismissals. Is still undefeated at the bat with 19 runs off 44 deliveries.
When the second session in Ranchi began, wicketkeeper Ben Foakes joined the former captain at the crease.
The Indian spinners will be eager to take wickets at regular intervals. And prevent England from reaching a good first-innings total given the circumstances.
