Ravichandran Ashwin plays gully cricket with local youths. Ravichandran Ashwin, the senior Indian off-spinner, has been picked for the Indian team for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2022. Moreover, he is currently playing in a three-match T20I series with Australia. Also, he took some time to play gully cricket with the young boys in the area.
The 36-year-old posted a video of himself on Instagram on Wednesday. In the video, he can be seen hanging out with kids and playing cricket. The second-most wicket-taker for India in Test matches wrote “Nothing can beat Area Cricket” as the caption for the video.
Ashwin in the Indian squad
Ashwin has played 56 T20Is for India and taken 66 wickets. The last time he played for the Men in Blue was on September 8 in Dubai in an Asia Cup T20 match against Afghanistan.
He was on the team for the first Twenty20 International against Australia in Mohali, but he didn’t make the team. In that game, the Men in Blue got an opportunity to bat first. After Rahul’s 55, Suryakumar Yadav’s 46, and Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten 71 off 30 balls, India scored 208 runs while losing six wickets.
India’s performance
It was India’s highest score ever against Australia in the shortest version of the game. Still, they couldn’t defend it because their bowlers had a bad day. Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian team, used six bowlers. Five of them gave up more than 11 runs per over. And Australia was able to reach the goal of >208 runs with six wickets lost in 19.2 overs.
Friday, they will play the second game of the three-game series at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. India will have to win the game if they want to keep their hopes of winning the home series against the team that just won the T20 World Cup.
