During the first session of Day 1 of India’s first Test against England in Hyderabad, veteran Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja became India’s most successful bowling partnership in Test history.
At the time of writing, Ashwin and Jadeja have 504 wickets as a bowling duo in 50 Test matches, surpassing the famous Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble, who had 501 wickets between them in 54 Tests.
The two Indian spinners compliment one other well, and their success together has contributed significantly to India’s impressive home Test record over the last decade.
England’s James Anderson and Stuart Broad continue to lead the record, with a remarkable 1039 wickets in 138 Tests.

England chose to bat first and got off to a strong start with a 55-run partnership between openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley.
However, Ashwin took the first wicket for India by catching Duckett in front. Jadeja struck at the other end, taking Ollie Pope’s wicket, before Ashwin sent Zak Crawley back to the pavilion.
Joe Root, who appeared to have an ominous touch, provided another breakthrough for Jadeja.
Axar Patel has also helped with two huge wickets after lunch in Jonny Bairstow and Ben Foakes, as India leads England by six wickets at the time of writing.
England’s skipper Ben Stokes is at the crease, as is youthful Rehan Ahmed, who can bat well. At the time of writing, England were batting at 145/6.
