In the course of a Colors Cineplex conversation, Zaheer was asked what he felt about Bishnoi receiving the second Super Over. “I think it was a brave and smart decision as you do not have a lot of time in these situations,” he stated. You must trust your intuition and reasoning. Thus, you should give that think-tank member some credit.”
The former seamer for India pointed out that in the second Super Over, the hosts were unable to set the visitors a significant target. “The second Super Over started very well, India started with a six,” he clarified. It appeared like India would defeat Afghanistan, but that did not transpire. They didn’t even use all six balls and lost two wickets.”
Zaheer went on to say that any bowler would find it difficult to contain 11 runs. “Following that, you had to make a big decision about who would bowl,” he reasoned. That choice was wisely made since, under pressure, hitters sometimes score twelve runs with ease while the bowler makes mistakes.”
Before India dropped two wickets in a row in the following Super Over, Rohit Sharma hit 11 runs off the first three balls. When it came to selecting a bowler, the Indian captain and team management decided to go with Avesh Khan over Bishnoi, opting instead for the leg-spinner.
Ravi Bishnoi was also commended by Zaheer Khan for delivering a crucial over under duress. Revealing that on the opening ball of the second Super Over, Bishnoi had Mohammad Nabi caught at long-off by Rinku Singh.
