Ravi Bishnoi discusses how he was chosen to bowl the second Super Over in the third T20I between IND and AFG. In the third Twenty20 International match against Afghanistan, young wrist-spinner Ravi Bishnoi of India made a huge impact by successfully defending a target of 12 in the subsequent Super Over and enabling his team to cross the finish line.
The game had to continue late into the evening with a second Super Over after 212 runs had been scored in each of the innings and even one Super Over was unable to separate the teams. Mukesh Kumar was unable to bowl again. Therefore the Indian team management had to choose between Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi.
Ravi Bishnoi discusses how he was chosen to bowl
Even though both bowlers were observed warming up, it appeared like Ravi Bishnoi was handed the ball at the eleventh hour. After the game, Bishnoi talked to the host announcer about how he was given the chance to bowl.
“That was pretty fast,” he said. Given that I had already experienced a double Super Over, I found it to be rather enjoyable. Avesh and I were both ready to bowl the Super Over, but since there was a larger leg-side boundary and two right-handers came to bat, I was requested to bowl.”
During the IPL 2020 season, Bishnoi was a member of the Kings XI Punjab side that faced the Mumbai Indians in a double Super Over.
According to Ravi Bishnoi, his strategy for the Super Over is to “bowl stump to stump and bowl back of a length”.
Ravi Bishnoi earned back the faith that was shown in him by taking out Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mohammad Nabi with a respectable score of one run. Rinku Singh caught both of the batters at short range after they failed to get hold of the ball.
In the second innings, Bishnoi proved costly as he let up a total of 38 runs in his four overs without claiming a wicket. He did, however, fully redeem himself in the second Super Over with some outstanding bowling.
Additionally, it made guaranteed that India, who leads Afghanistan 6-0 head-to-head, will continue to win T20Is.
