Ranji Trophy: Kerala escapes to a draw in Jaipur on Friday thanks to Sachin Baby’s heroics.
That was largely made possible by two men, one of whom struck out 81 times and the other two. Sachin Baby (139b, 8×4, 1×6) and M.D. Nidheesh (38b) are to blame for Kerala’s single point in the Ranji Trophy match that ended in a draw with Rajasthan.
The guests needed to bat out almost three meetings or go for a difficult objective of 395 at the Sawai Mansingh Arena. They chose the latter option first, but after the best batsmen returned to the dressing room, they attempted to salvage the game. When Kerala was reduced to 269 for eight, that seemed like a big challenge. Baby and Nidheesh, on the other hand, paid too much for their wickets as they played close to 18 overs.
Baby, who had performed a similar rescue mission with 133 runs not out in Kerala’s first innings, put in a truly outstanding effort.
When Baby and skipper Sanju Samson (69, 53b, 6×4, 3×6) were batting together, Kerala had a good chance of winning. In just 71 balls, they added 89 for the fourth wicket.Prior to the declaration, Rajasthan resumed its second innings at 278 for five and batted another ten overs to reach 363 for eight. Kerala will play its next four matches at home in Thiruvananthapuram, and Deepak Hooda remained unbeaten on 155 (155b, 10×4, 4×6). On December 27, it will take on Chhattisgarh. For its next match, Rajasthan will travel to Puducherry. The first-innings lead earned Rajasthan three points.
With 13 points, Chhattisgarh leads Group C, followed by Karnataka with 10. With seven points, Kerala is third, and Rajasthan is fourth with four points.
