RAIPUR: Despite scoring a good first innings total of 327 against Assam in the Ranji Trophy’s first Group B match, hosts Chhattisgarh restricted the visitors to 159 runs, compelling them to follow on.
The hosts’ skipper, Amandeep Khare, led from the front, scoring 116 from 218 deliveries before being bowled out by Assam’s Mrinmoy Dutta.
Shashank Singh, who was selected by the Punjab Kings for the 2024 IPL season. Scored 82 runs off 107 balls, while Ashutosh Singh scored 58 off 152 deliveries.
When the visitors batted, Chhattisgarh openers Rishabh Tiwari and Eknath Kerkar were both bowled for six and 18 runs, respectively.

Assam bowlers Mukhtar Hussain, Mrinmoy Dutta, Akash Sengupta, Rahul Singh, and Kunal Sarma each took two wickets.
In response, Assam managed just 159 runs in the first innings. With Chhattisgarh medium bowler Sourabh Majumdar picking up six wickets.
Pacer Ravi Kiran collected three wickets. At stumps on day three, Assam was 175 for five.
