Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Livingston, and Kilmarnock are included in the Scottish Premier League squad of the week.
Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Livingston, and Kilmarnock are included in the Scottish Premier League squad of the week. In the Scottish Premiership, there have been a lot of goals as Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Livingston, Motherwell, and St. Mirren have all won. Rangers were in a good mood after making it to the Champions League play-offs, so they beat St. Johnstone 4-0 at Ibrox and had four players named to the Scottish Premiership team of the week.
Celtic beat Kilmarnock 5-0, and one player from each team is in the weekend’s best XI. After doing well in a 4-1 win over Dundee United, Hearts has three players, while Livingston has two after beating Hibernian 2-1 at home.
Let’s look at the five players with the highest ratings who completed the team of the week.
1. Rabbi Matondo (Rangers)
With a score of 8.52, Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo is the player of the week in the Scottish Premiership. Matondo helped make two of the four goals that the Rangers scored against St. Johnstone by setting up Antonio Colak and Scott Arfield in the second half. Four key passes led to the two assists, and the Welsh winger hit the post with one of his two shots. A star man award was also given out because of six dribbles.
2. Ayo Obileye (Livingston)
Back to Livingston’s 2-1 win over Hibs, Ayo Obileye was named the man of the match because he got an 8.06 rating. The center-back scored the game-winning goal with four minutes left in regular time. With one of his two shots on goal, he got past David Marshall. Obileye frequently found himself in advantageous positions. He won 12 clearances and 5 aerial duels, which took the pressure off the Livi goal and helped his team win all three points. This earned him a spot in the team of the week.
3. Greg Taylor (Celtic)
Celtic won their third game in a row on Sunday, beating newly promoted Kilmarnock 5-0. This was their third win in their first three games. Greg Taylor was the star of that win, which earned him a rating of 7.95. Taylor moved forward well from left back at Rugby Park, where he completed five dribbles. However, the Kilmarnock attack had a hard time getting past the 24-year-old, who made five tackles to help the Bhoys get three easy points.
4. Joel Nouble (Livingston)
Joel Nouble didn’t score for Livingston in the Scottish Premiership last season, but he has scored twice in the first three games of 2022/23. He scored in their 2-1 win over Hibs. Nouble scored early on for Livi, scoring on one of his three shots. He made two key passes but didn’t get an assist. The striker had a good game at the weekend, getting a rating of 7.91. He had three dribbles, one tackle, and one interception.
5. Cameron Devlin (Hearts)
If Hearts were upset that they tied with Hibs in the Edinburgh Derby last week, they didn’t show it as they took their anger out on a bad Dundee United team on Sunday. Cameron Devlin made his first league start of the year in their 4-1 win, and he was named man of the match with a 7.82 rating. Devlin set up Lawrence Shankland’s first goal in the first minute, which was his only key pass. The 24-year-old finished a great game by making five tackles and one interception.
