The English team defeated team India by 7 wickets in the 5th and last Teat match of the series. The series resulted in a 2-2 draw. With this result, India’s dream of winning the series on English soil after 15 years remained unfulfilled. Similarly, reaching the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) has become very difficult now. Team India still has to play 6 more Tests in this edition of WTC. In which 4 against Australia (Home Series) and 2 against Bangladesh (Away Series).
Even if the team wins all the 6 test matches, it will still have 68.98% points. That is, India will not be able to reach 70%. Although the Indian team still reaches the final with 68.98% points, the situation will change after another defeat.

The Indian team had played the final of the first edition of the World Test Championship. Then India made their position for the finals by securing more than 70% points. The two finalists for WTC are decided on the basis of percentage points. This time it will impossible for the Indian team to collect 70% points. India has currently gained 75 points from 12 matches. According to the points system, 12 points are awarded for winning a test. That is, India has 77 points out of a total possible 144 points i.e. 53.47%.
Australia is almost through the finals
Looking at the current status of the World Test Championship, Australia’s team is the biggest contender to reach the final. Kangaroos currently have 77.78% points. The series in India may be difficult for them but they have to play a lot of Test matches at their home as well. While after defeating India in the last Test and Drawing the series, England still has no chance to make their positions in the WTC finals.
