According to a French publication called Media Foot (h/t GOAL), Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is highly interested in signing William Saliba, a well-known Arsenal superstar.
From Saint-Etienne, Saliba joined the Gunners in the summer of 2019, but it took him three years to make his debut. He has since become one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
One of the primary factors in Arsenal’s five-point lead at the top of the league is the 21-year-old’s participation in all 14 league games this season. It makes sense that the company in north London is eager to extend its contract.
Renewing Saliba’s contract is firmly on the Gunners’ agenda, along with Charlie Patino, Bukay Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli. The club has the option to extend the Frenchman’s contract by one more year, which runs out at the conclusion of the current season.
PSG’s quest for a middle back could be connected with Sergio Ramos’ expected takeoff in 2023. The fact that the 36-year-old is in the final year of his contract with Parc des Princes has forced PSG to look elsewhere for a replacement.
Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar has caught their attention, but Real Madrid is also interested in hiring him. In addition, acquiring Saliba could be challenging, particularly if he signs a new contract with the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta, the team’s manager, knows how valuable the young center-back is, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Arsenal turned down any interest in Saliba. According to reports, Barcelona was looking into a deal for him this summer as a backup in the event that they were unable to sign Jules Kounde.
Patrice Evra sends warning to Arsenal over PSG target William Saliba
Patrice Evra warns Arsenal about William Saliba, a PSG target. The former Manchester United left-back has urged Arsenal to sign a new center-back. According to him, the Gunners would be in serious trouble if Saliba were to get hurt, so they should strengthen their back line.
Betfair was informed by the French expert, via Metro:
“While some clubs acquire players during times of crisis, as Sir Alex Ferguson used to do, you must acquire players when you are at the top. Consider the impact that Saliba’s absence would have on the team if he were to sustain an injury.”
He Added:
“Therefore, they require a second center back. The club owner has a great opportunity to back up Arteta. Both Arteta and the players are convinced that Arsenal will win the league, and they require additional support.”
