Sony’s new update for its PS5 beta testers includes a Discord voice visit, Variable Refresh Rate for 1440p, and other interesting additions.
Starting today, welcomed beta testers for the PS5 are getting Discord, Variable Refresh Rate support for 1440p, and new UX updates among others. Support for voice visit options like Discord has been one of the most-requested additions for current consoles. With the application advancing toward Xbox a couple of months prior it was inevitable until the PS5 sought the same treatment.
Ordinarily, significant updates on the PS5 are released just once like clockwork with a larger part of the updates coming as quality and minor UI/UX changes. The last significant option saw the PS5 adding support for 1440p displays alongside Game Lists that essentially allowed players to coordinate their library better. Presently it appears some of the more fan-requested features will advance onto the PS5.
As indicated by a company blog entry, welcomed beta testers can now join a Discord voice talk by means of the PS5 console where the incorporation appears to be similar to the way things were executed on the Xbox. Nonetheless, users would still need to use Discord on versatile or PC to start a voice talk session on the PS5. This is in stark contrast to Microsoft’s superior reconciliation which allows players to join a Discord voice visit straightforwardly from Xbox consoles. Furthermore, the beta update includes UI changes like new “Join Game” and “Friends Who Play” icons as well as the choice to physically transfer game captures to the PlayStation application and to start/request a share screen from a companion’s profile.
Beta testers for the PS5 can also encounter Variable Refresh Rate on 1440p, game presets for multiplayer session preferences, and minor enhancements to the game library section. Aside from this, the beta update is shipping new accessibility and ease-of-use features like offering easier access to saved PS4 information by means of the PS5, a PS5 to PS5 information transfer choice, and the capacity to catch gameplay using voice command, among others.
While Sony is yet to officially declare the specific date for the public update on the console, the company mentions that fans should “stay tuned for additional updates before very long.” However late leaks about the Discord combination on the PS5 suggest it will be out on Walk 8 alongside the reputed choice to stream PS5 games.
Regardless, the update will be a welcome expansion for PS5 users who have been hanging tight for some of these features, especially Discord voice talk.
