Premier League: Harry Kane targeting Alan Shearer’s all-time
Premier League: Harry Kane targeting Alan Shearer’s all-time: After scoring two goals against Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane moved up to joint third place in the Premier League scoring charts. As a result of this, Kane has set his sights on breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time record for goals scored in the Premier League.
While Kane could not convert a penalty, he did score twice to move above the 200-goal mark in the Premier League for his career as Spurs won 2-0 at the City Ground on Sunday to keep their perfect start to the season intact. Read the complete account.
The England captain, who is 29, tied Andy Cole with 187 goals scored in the Premier League. Shearer (260) and Wayne Rooney (208) are the only players in the history of the competition to have scored more goals.
Kane has been quoted as saying to the media, “It’s still a long way away, for sure, but I still feel fit, I feel like I have many more years left in the locker.”
“Each and every season, one of my ambitions is to score goals; I want to be counted among those names, and I’m looking forward to the task.
Statement
“Alan and Wayne are two of the best strikers England has ever had, so the fact that I am even considered among them is a nice accomplishment for me. However, I want to continue to test my limits and discover how far I can go. The beginning of the season has been going really well thus far.”
After winning their third consecutive game in the league, Tottenham moved up to third place in the rankings with 10 points, two points behind their north London rivals Arsenal.
Kane has scored four goals so far this season, and his form has been a significant factor in Tottenham’s best start to a Premier League campaign since 2009-10, when they began the season by winning their first four games in a row.
Last week, Harry Kane broke the record for the most goals scored for a single club in Premier League history, surpassing Sergio Aguero’s total of goals scored for Manchester City.
According to Spurs manager Antonio Conte’s comments to the media, “Harry needs to be our point of reference on the pitch at every moment, he has to be the leader for this team, and I think he is working extremely well.”
He is completely invested in this endeavor, and I couldn’t be happier for him in that regard.
