In the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), the Delhi Capitals (DC) have reached their lowest point since losing their regular captain, Rishabh Pant. DC are winless in five games and have a net run pace of – 1.488, justifiably the most terrible in the opposition. They have lost games from winning positions and have been eliminated from contests from the beginning. When the Capitals take on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 28 of the IPL 2023 on April 20, they will be looking to score their first points.
Shreyas Iyer has undergone back surgery, leaving KKR without their regular skipper. However, their performances have been significantly superior, as evidenced by their positive net run rate and two victories from five matches.
Under Chandrakant Pandit, the Knight Riders’ new head coach, they appear to be a fairly cohesive unit. However, this year, they have largely relied on individual brilliance, making collective performances difficult to come by. They’ve managed to win a few games, but they still have a long way to go before they can be considered a playoff contender.
DC has won three of their last five meetings with KKR, making the head-to-head record fairly even. The majority of these matches (four) have been won by the chasing team, as expected.
IPL 2023: Prediction for DC vs. KKR: Delhi, without a win, needs momentum.
DC’s inconveniences have originated from the top in IPL 2023. While Prithvi Shaw has yet to score more than 20 runs in an innings this season, David Warner has had trouble finding the middle of his bat. Mitchell Marsh, who was injured in the middle, has also not contributed significantly to the batting lineup.
The Capitals need to come up with a big score because the middle order of Rilee Rossouw, Manish Pandey, Yash Dhull, Rovman Powell, Abishek Porel, and Sarfaraz Khan has been manned without much success. Hoping that the top three deliver is their best bet.
DC will be up against a team that clearly lacks in the bowling attack, which is good news for them. KKR’s pacers have been downright sad this year, with Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Shardul Thakur and Andre Russell all not performing as well as could be expected.
The Knight Riders’ spin trio of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Suyash Sharma will play into their hands. DC’s batting setup isn’t fit to take on the spinners, particularly since they’ve ardently would not advance Axar Patel up the request.
Despite this, it appears that the Capitals overall are superior. They have a few deadly bowlers who are able to break through the Kolkata batting order, and a number of key players are expected to deliver memorable performances.
DC can be relied upon to open their IPL 2023 account on Thursday, despite the fact that KKR are definitely in with a chance.
Prediction: DC to dominate Game 28 of IPL 2023.
