Possible setback for CSK as Mustafizur Rahman was carted off in the third BAN vs. SL ODI. At the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday, March 18, during the third One-Day International (ODI) between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, bowler Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh was carried off the field. The 28-year-old needed help to be removed because she was having excruciating cramps.
During his nine overs of bowling in the BAN vs. SL ODI contest, Mustafizur conceded 39 runs while taking the wickets of Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka. Mustiafizur began his last over, the 48th of Sri Lanka’s innings, but his sole delivery was ruled wide, hence he was unable to bowl anymore. In his place, Soumya Sarkar finished the over.
The left-arm pacer’s ability to play in the IPL in 2024 is also in doubt because of the possible injury. The reigning champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) purchased him in auction in December 2023 for INR 2 crore.

Previously, Sri Lanka prevailed 2-1 in the three-match T20I series. Both teams have won a match apiece, hence the outcome of the ODI series depends on the current match. Two Test matches are scheduled to conclude the tour on Friday, March 22, at Sylhet and Chattogram, respectively.
Given that speedy Matheesha Pathirana was already down, CSK was counting on their newest addition, Mustafizur, to fill in for the young player.
In the 2023 Indian Premier League, Pathirana was outstanding for the Chennai Super Kings in the final overs, making significant breakthroughs all through the season.
The season’s opening match between the reigning champions and Royal Challengers Bangalore will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, March 22.
