Points for Super Smash 2023-24 Table: Standings updated following Northern Districts against Wellington Firebirds, Match 11.
The 11th match of the current Super Smash event pitted Northern Districts vs Wellington Firebirds. Wellington’s victory over the Northern Districts (Northern Brave) meant that they remained atop the points table.

Wellington is the only unbeaten team in the competition, with 14 points from four games and a net run rate of 4.410.
They have won three of the four games they have played, with one game ending in a tie.
While Auckland remains second on the points standings with eight points from four games, Canterbury Kings are third with six points from three games and an NRR of 0.154.
Central Districts has six points as well, having played four games thus far. The Otago Volts are in fifth place with six points from four games. They have the poorest NRR of -3.792 among the six teams, having lost two games and won one.
Northern Districts’ position on the points table deteriorated following their loss to Wellington. They have dropped to the bottom of the table, with only four points from three games, having won one and lost two.

Wellington is led to victory by Tom Blundell and Peter Younghusband
Wellington won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 177 runs in their 20-over quota.
Tim Robinson got the team off to a fast start before getting removed for 20(11) in the third over. Skipper Nick Kelly failed to make an impression and was removed prematurely.
Good contributions from the middle-order hitters, as well as wicketkeeper-batter Tom Blundell’s blazing 71(39), helped the team enhance its total.
The Wellington were at 177/8 at the end of the first innings. Northern Districts’ bowler of choice was Niel Wagner, who bowled 3/17 in four overs.
Northern Districts had a disastrous start to the chase, losing three important wickets in the opening three overs.
The Districts were reeling at 28/3 in 2.5 overs thanks to Nathan Smith, Logan van Beek, and Ian McPeake.

The Districts’ chances of winning the game were then revived by skipper Jeet Raval’s knock.
Tim Pringle’s heroics kept his side on track after Raval’s wicket, but the Wellington bowlers limited the opposition to 154/8 to win by 23 runs.
