Guman Singh, a raider, was named best player with 14 points as U Mumba defeated Bengal Warriors 49-41 on Saturday in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 9 here.
PKL 9: U Mumba defeat Bengal Warriors with a huge victory
While Guman Singh scored the most points for U Mumba in the game at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, teammate raider Ashish chipped in with 13 points.
U Mumba seized the lead at 4-2 in the fifth minute thanks in part to a few raid points by Guman Singh. In the seventh minute, he continued to play in fine condition and had only left one member of the Warriors on the mat. A short while later, Guman executed another outstanding raid to assist his side in inflicting an All-Out and gaining a commanding 12-4 advantage.
Although the Warriors were behind 9-13, tackle points from Vaibhav Garje and Girish Maruti Ernak kept them in the game. At the end of the first half, Bengal was still trailing Mumbai by a score of 21–23 despite continuing to battle and inflicting an All-Out right before the break.
The first few minutes of the second half saw the two teams engage in a close battle. Whilst the Warriors relied on Maninder Singh, Guman spearheaded the attack for U Mumba.
In the 25th minute, U Mumba did, however, have a lead of 27-24. The Mumbai team was still in the lead at 31-27 when Guman Singh executed an outstanding raid in the 28th minute.
The contest was stronghold at 37-30 in the 33rd minute as U Mumba rode the wave of momentum and carried an All-Out.
After that, Mumbai improved their play as the score reached 47-37 in the 39th minute thanks to raider Ashish and defender Rinku. U Mumba persisted in pressing the gas pedal till finally declaring victory in its entirety.
