On the last day of the summer transfer window, former Arsenal captain Aubameyang transferred from Barcelona to Chelsea for £10 million.
After leaving Arsenal in February, Aubameyang made 24 games for Barcelona and scored 13 goals, but he was released owing to the Spanish club’s severe financial circumstances.
After departing Arsenal in disgrace, the Gabon striker believed he still had “unfinished business” in the Premier League.
Aubameyang scored 92 goals in 163 games with the Gunners, but Mikel Arteta relieved him of the leadership before the club approved his transfer.
At the Emirates Stadium, Lacazette was one of Aubameyang’s closest pals. He was stunned to learn that Aubameyang had joined Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea.
According to Aubameyang, Lacazette was the first Arsenal player to get in touch with him over his transfer to Stamford Bridge.

When asked if the remark was intended to wish him well in west London, Aubameyang responded, “Nah, no!
He was already incredulous when he first heard the rumours, thinking, “What, no, really?!”
Aubameyang said to BBC’s MOTDx, “If I had to select one, I believe it’s Lacazette for sure,” that Lacazette was one of his career’s major “influences.” He greatly assisted me during those tough moments.
Aubameyang has scored three goals in five games since joining Chelsea, enabling Graham Potter’s team to move into the top four and seize control of their Champions League group.
However, the striker has drawn fire for criticising Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, for his handling of “big players” after he left the Emirates.
I recall they [Barcelona] initially phoned my father, Aubameyang remarked in a video with A Jewellers when asked about the circumstances behind his departure from Arsenal.
We were familiar with the coach, Xavi, when he phoned and said there was a chance since you were having issues with Arsenal, but if you came, you would really benefit us.
