Australia skipper Pat Cummins made a significant impact on the opening session of the home series against the West Indies, taking two wickets. One of which was the critical scalp of opening batsman Kraigg Brathwaite.
On Day 1 of the Adelaide Oval Test on Wednesday, January 17. the Windies captain was clean bowled for 13 runs off 45 deliveries by his opponent.
Pat Cummins sent the visitors in to bat first, and the defending World Test Champions dominated proceedings from the start.
Cameron Green made a spectacular catch at gully to eliminate Tagenarine Chanderpaul in the tenth over of the innings, setting the tone for the hosts.
Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie faced a difficult struggle against the new ball-pace trio. But the former died in the 14th over.
Cummins delivered a delivery right on the line of the off stump, and the opener ended up playing inside the line.

Cummins bowled a terrific stint in the opening session of the series against the West Indies. He ended with two wickets in six overs, two of which were maidens.

West Indies score 64-3 in the first session of Day 1 against Australia following Cummins’ double strike
The Men’s Kraigg Brathwaite-led side sought to rebuild with two young players out in the middle, Kirk McKenzie and Alick Athanaze.
The partnership held off the bowlers for a while. But Athanaze was ultimately removed by Josh Hazlewood in the last parts of the session.
After the first session, West Indies were 64-3, with Kirk McKenzie and rookie Kavem Hodge sharing the crease.
The Men in Maroon lost by 419 runs on their previous visit to the Adelaide Oval in late 2022.
They’ll be aiming to prevent a repetition of that historic result, but they’ll need to put up a strong first innings total.
