“Part of Elite Company”: Jemimah Rodrigues Funnily Compares Herself To MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli : India’s Jemima Rodriguez scored 146 runs in five matches and averaged 73 runs in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games.
Jemimah Rodrigues sarcastically compared herself to the likes of her MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Rodriguez socialized on her media where she shared a collage containing photos of the three of them. The photo shows Dhoni and Virat saving wickets by using the stretch feature while batting, while Jemima also hit a similar pose to save wickets in one of their matches.
Funny enough, she wrote at the time of posting the collage: “Looks like I’m now part of Elite Company.”
Previously, Jemimah revealed that understanding her role in striking helped her improve her game.
“Smriti (Mandhana) had told me long back in the IPL (Women’s T20 Challenge) in 2019 that you don’t have to be a Harmanpreet Kaur or a Smriti Mandhana. You have to be a Jemimah Rodrigues. I think I have understood that role and it’s helping me,” Jemimah said.
The comment came after she won India’s Barbados women at the 2022 Commonwealth Games earlier this month.
Rodriguez said she focuses on hitting the ball into the gap and stealing in singles and doubles, even though he admits he’s not a power hitter.
“Definitely, I’ve worked on my power game, but more than that, I’ve understood my game better. I’m not a power-hitter, I’m a player. I can hit the (gaps for) singles and doubles well; I know how to maneuver the field. I think that is my strength,” she added.
Speaking of India’s women’s CWG campaign, the team lost to Australia in a thrilling nine-run final to ultimately claim the silver medal. They beat England to reach the final.
