Every year, in Paris, France, professional male tennis players compete in the Paris Masters, also called the Rolex Paris Masters. When the competition first took place in 1968, it was known as the French Covered Court Championships. The tournament is a part of the Masters 1000 schedule of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour. The French Covered Court Championships inspired the title. Previous to the season-ending ATP Finals, the tournament is often the ninth and last Masters event on the ATP Tour. Due to sponsorship, the tournament was officially known as the BNP Paribas Masters from 2003 to 2016, and from 2017 forward it was known as the Rolex Paris Masters.
