Fans poured admiration on Team India all-rounder Shivam Dube following his match-winning innings against Afghanistan in the 2nd T20I on Sunday, January 14 in Indore.
Following a Player-of-the-Match effort in the previous game, Dube continued in the same spirit
on Sunday, putting up another brilliant display to help India win by six wickets at the Holkar Stadium.
In the second T20I, Afghanistan were bowled out for 172 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
India then strolled to the goal in 15.4 overs, easily winning the match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (68) and Virat Kohli (29) shone in the top order, propelling the hosts to a quick start in the powerplay.
After Kohli’s departure, Shivam Dube took over and launched a devastating attack on Afghan bowlers.
In the companionship of Jaiswal, he hammered his way to a 22-ball half-century, putting India in command.
He remained unblemished to the conclusion, finishing the game in the 16th over.
Shivam Dube blasted four sixes and five fours on his way to 63* (32). During his three-over session, he also took a wicket with the ball in the first innings.
Fans were thrilled by Dube’s continuous efforts in the current series and hailed him on social media sites. Here are a few examples:
I worked on a lot of things – Team India all-rounder Shivam Dube after his match-winning innings in the second T20I against Afghanistan
After the game, Shivam Dube remarked that Indian captain Rohit Sharma was pleased with his efforts and pleased that he had returned the confidence given in him.
He’s Rohit Sharma very happy with my performance, and I’m returning his trust in me.
We both knew our game, he and Jaiswal.
My duty was to take on the spinners, Jaiswal was already playing well, and we wanted to end the game as quickly as possible.
Dube commented on his batting thought approach, saying, “There wasn’t any target in mind, we finished on time.”
Not thinking of hitting out of the park, but certainly out of the park.
There are numerous things I worked on, one of which is attitude in T20s and how you manage
pressure, which we concentrated on rather than striking all the balls.
He also discussed his bowling, stating, “I’m working on my bowling as well, got the three overs
today, wasn’t great, and that’s how it goes in T20s, not every day is the same.”
Shivam Dube will return to action on Wednesday, January 17, when India plays Afghanistan in the third Twenty20 International at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
