Pakistan’s ex-skipper has some thoughts about Bhuvi’s death over bowling!
Pakistan’s ex-skipper has some thoughts about Bhuvi’s death over bowling! Team India lost the first T20I against Australia in Mohali on Tuesday by four wickets. India made a good score of 208/6 in 20 overs, but the Australian batters were better. Cameron Green scored a half-century to start the innings (61), and Matthew Wade finished strong with an unbeaten 45 to get the visitors to win in the run chase. However, India’s fast bowlers came under fire again when Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave up 52 runs in four overs. Harshal Patel, who was making his comeback, was also expensive (0/49).
Salman Butt, the former captain of Pakistan, talked at length about how badly India did with the ball in the game. He was especially harsh on the fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar and Harshal. Butt thinks that Bhuvneshwar, who is 32 years old, is not a threat to a “decent” batting order. He says that Bhuvneshwar’s 5/4 against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup earlier this month was primarily the result of the weaker batting order and the way the pitch was.
“I just can’t understand how you can bring Bhuvneshwar Kumar to defend in key overs. It’s not worth it. Neither he has pace, nor he can reverse-swing the ball. That was Afghanistan, it was a different pitch. He can be dangerous with new ball when there is movement. Once the powerplay is over, he cannot pose a threat to opposition that has a decent batting order,” Butt said on his official YouTube channel.
Butt on Harshal
The former Pakistan captain also talked about Harshal Patel, saying that it was “beyond his understanding” that a fast bowler would specialize in slower deliveries.
“You have Siraj, you have Umran Malik. Umesh also bowled better. The bowlers they are banking on, I don’t think they are reliable. He gave away 52 runs in four overs, Harshal also gave away 40. You are a fast bowler, and your strength is a slower one. This is beyond my understanding,” said Butt.
“This is not a good thing for a fast bowler. I didn’t notice anything that can threaten a batsman. Pitch was really good, the ball was coming good onto the bat. India batted well and Australia played even better.”
India is still waiting for Jasprit Bumrah to come back. He hasn’t played since the July tour of England. However, Bumrah is part of the team going to Australia, and he is likely to play in the rest of the games. On September 23, India and Australia will play the second T20I of the three-match series in Nagpur.
