Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson scored a double century in the Karachi Test. New Zealand declared their first innings on the score of 612/9 as soon as the double century was reached.
Trailing by 174 runs, Pakistan scored 77 runs in their second innings losing 2 wickets. His opener Imam-ul Haq and night watchman Nouman Ali are unbeaten.
Williamson scored a double hundred
New Zealand started the fourth day with a score of 400/6. Spinner Ish Sodhi (65) added 154 runs for the 7th wicket with Williamson. Sodhi got out on a team score of 595. Tim Southee and Neil Wagner were dismissed for zero in adding the next 2 runs.
In the end, Ejaz Patel played 8 balls and kept one end till Williamson’s double century. Williamson completed his double century with a single on the 5th ball of the 195th over. With this, New Zealand captain Tim Southee declared the innings on the score of 612.
On the fourth day, Abrar Ahmed completed his 5 wickets in the innings by taking 2 wickets. Nauman Ali took 3 wickets in the innings. Pakistan, trailing by 174 runs in the second innings, has lost 2 wickets.
Abdullah Shafiq 17 and Shan Masood were dismissed after scoring 10 runs. Imam-ul-Haq 45 and Night Watchman Nouman Ali are unbeaten on 4 runs.
Pakistan has scored 77 runs, but the team is still 97 runs behind. Ejaz Ali and Ish Sodhi took one wicket each for New Zealand. The fifth day’s play will start at 10 am on Friday.
This is Williamson’s 5th Test career and second double-century against Pakistan. He has also scored 3 double centuries against Bangladesh, West Indies, and Sri Lanka. Williamson scored a century in international cricket on the third day after 23 months and 25 days.
With this, he has reached number four in the list of most centuries scored by active Test players.
Babar-Salman had scored centuries
Earlier on Monday, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Captain Babar Azam’s 161, Agha Salman’s 103, and wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s 86 helped the team score 438 runs. In response, New Zealand scored 612 runs. Now the match will be decided on the fifth day’s play.
