On January 17, Pakistan bowler Haris Rauf suffered another horrible outing in the third T20I against New Zealand in Dunedin.
He allowed 60 runs in four overs throughout the game.
Down 0-2 in the best-of-five series, the Men in Green chose to field first despite losing the first two games chasing.
Rauf’s second delivery began on a positive note when he removed Devon Conway.
However, fellow starter Finn Allen took him on in the powerplay’s last over, crushing him for 28 runs.
Allen never looked back, smashing a brilliant 137 off 62 balls to help the Kiwis score a huge 224/7 in 20 overs.
Rauf was hit for an unpardonable 51 runs in his second and third overs combined, finishing with statistics of 2/60 in four overs.
It was Pakistan’s fourth most costly bowling performance in Twenty20 Internationals.
It erased a lot of his fine work from the first two games when he cast spells of 2/34 and 3/38.
Haris Rauf, known for his high-speed bowling, has been frighteningly pricey in recent months, with an economy rate of almost 6.80 in the ODI World Cup.
Fans on Twitter mocked the pacer for his poor bowling performance.
Pakistan wants to keep the T20I series alive – Haris Rauf
Following defeats in the first two T20Is, Pakistan entered the current match needing a win to keep the series going.
The Men in Green suffered humiliating defeats in the Asia Cup and the World Cup, leaving them anxious for a comeback.
Furthermore, they are coming off a 0-3 series loss to Australia in Tests.
The Kiwis smashed Pakistan’s bowlers in the first two T20Is, surrendering 226 and 194 runs.
Nonetheless, they fought valiantly, scoring 180 and 173 before falling behind on both occasions.
To complete a successful run chase in the present series, Pakistan must register their second-highest T20I total and the highest batting second.
The series is Shaheen Afridi’s first as Pakistan’s T20I captain, and the team hopes to start fresh in preparation for the World Cup in June.
Pakistan has excelled in the shortest format in recent years, reaching the semi-finals and finals of the T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2022.
As things stand, they are 79/2 in nine overs and need 146 runs in 11 overs to avoid a series loss.
