The member of the 2011 world cup winning team management Paddy Upton has once again been appointed as the mental conditioning coach of the Indian cricket team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced this on July 26, 2022. Paddy was also present with Team India from 2008 to 2011. Under his supervision, India got succeeded to win their 2nd 50 Over cricket world cup.
In making a step forward towards the preparation for T20 World Cup 2022 BCCI has appointed him. The T20 World Cup 2022 has to play in Australia in the month of October-November this year. After this, the ICC ODI World Cup will take place in India in 2023.
South Africa became the no. 1 test team under him
Former India coach Gary Kirsten first included Paddy in his support staff. Kirsten later became the coach of South Africa and Paddy was also present in their support staff there. In the presence of Gary and Paddy, South Africa became the number-1 Test team in 2013.
Motivate the players to take part in extreme sports like mountain climbing, canoeing is his style of working. Apart from this, he also teaches the techniques of keeping the mind calm through the control of the speed of breath.
At the big tournaments, the mental aspect matters more
Skilled wise top 4 to 5 teams in a big tournament approx remained the same. Winners decide on the basis of who responds better in a pressure situation. It is all about the thought process and mental toughness of the team.
Paddy Upton has also served in IPL and BBL, Paddy has worked with Rahul Dravid in the past as well. Upton has done mental conditioning of the players of the Rajasthan Royals team in IPL. Apart from this, Paddy has also served Delhi Daredevils. He has also work experience with Australia’s Big Bash League. He had worked with Sydney Thunder in the BBL.
