Lionel Messi, the superstar of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), appears to have approved of Enzo Fernandez’s dramatic transfer to Chelsea at the deadline. On the final day of the January transfer window, the Argentine midfielder signed with the Blues for a British-record sum of £106.8 million.
He had signed with the Eagles from River Plate just last summer for an initial payment of £8.8 million.
However, his stock prices have risen at an astonishing rate since then. The 21-year-old participated in all seven of Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup games, helping the team win the trophy for the third time.
He even got on the scoresheet in the 2-0 victory over Mexico, which Lionel Messi said was his hardest game in Qatar. The PSG player also praised Fernandez and said that he was a “very important player” for La Albiceleste after the game.
After the unforgettable campaign they ran together in Qatar, it should come as no surprise that the two appear to have a close relationship both on and off the field. It now appears that Lionel Messi has approved Fernandez’s move to SW6.
The fellow midfielder’s Instagram post was liked by the former Barcelona forward, who was holding a Chelsea jersey with his name and kit number on it.
The following is a tweet that was sent by @jakeheasman, who uses Twitter:
Chelsea spent £288 million on new players during the winter transfer window, which was capped by Fernandez’s move. Fernandez immediately filled the void left by Jorginho’s move to Arsenal on the day of the deadline in the center of the field for the Blues.
He played 29 games for Benfica this season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists, prior to his move to Stamford Bridge.
Lionel Messi leads PSG to a crucial victory over Montpellier :
In the 34th minute, the Argentine icon thought he had scored, but the goal was disallowed due to offside. Fabian Ruiz gave Les Parisiens the lead 10 minutes into the second half, and Messi scored in the 72nd minute. Arnaud Nordin’s goal in the 89th minute was canceled out by a stoppage-time strike from 16-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery, resulting in a 3-1 score.
After 21 league matches, PSG now has a five-point lead over Olympique de Marseille, which is in second place. A run of four league games with just one goal and no assists was alarming even by Lionel Messi’s extremely high standards.
Before facing Montpellier away from home on February 1, PSG only won one of their last four Ligue 1 games. Due to an injury, Neymar Jr. did not play, but Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe started in front of him.
